Business and Ethics.
What is your take on Ethics in Business?? Personally I put ethics before business profitability.. I would never start a website on topics like Acai Berry, Cancer, Gambling, Porn, Smoking, Alcohol(yes, alcohol too:p), Drugs and other type of sites that have any effect on the mental and physical health of my visitors..I had an adult video site once that pulled adult videos from youtube and we all know youtube is too strict with adult content..that was the farthest I went..
What about you??

I think that being ethical is important if you want to develop a reputation and not harm other people for your own benefit. For example, I believe heavily in ethical blogging and ethical business practices in general. But, I don't believe that making something like an acai berry site is necessarily unethical unless you misrepresent the product in a way that could be harmful to someone or employ deceptive tactics. Personally, I once posted on Yahoo! Answers quite a bit with a link to an acai berry site. It resulted in a handful of sales, but I didn't personally do anything unethical.
On the other hand, I made a natural male enhancement site a while back - I posted all factual information on the site and made it very useful to visitors and simply recommended exploring the option of male enhancement products, and then made a few 'recommendations'. xD

Well, the thing with Acai Berry is that you cannot the trust the merchants selling them..I would have no qualms in starting a website on Acai Berry if the seller is trustworthy..but, most of them are sham..similarly with a health related site, say Cancer..If my articles are written by a Cancer doc then I can start a website..but it would be unethical to look up 10-15 Cancer articles on ezine and then rephrase them myself..

Yeah, websites related to potentially fatal diseases and disorders should have medically-verified information, because you never know who might come to your site and decide to follow recommendations or take your knowledge and assume it's correct. Of course, you can say that you aren't a medical professional and post a disclaimer, but that's pretty shifty and only protects you legally - anyone with a heart or soul should look at it morally and not create false-resources for people in need of legitimate information.

The radical meaning behind the term Ethical may differ from person to person. In simpler terms, to me ethical is what I feel is right. Many a times it happens that an action that I believe is unethical may appeal to some other person and vice-versa.
To be ethical in a business processing, one needs to define boundaries to which the business should be confined. Ultimately, making quick bucks unethically won't help you in long run, but creating respect, brand name and an ethical image for youe business will support you life long.

Yes same here. I would never run a Porn site. I think people who run those sites are damaging the morals of our society for their own gain.
I wouldn't create falsified articles on topics like Cancer. I only create articles on topics I would have some experience with.
