Give up on a project or deal with it?

Now, I'm not a 100% sure if this is the right area(Looks like it but.. yeah). But I have a question for all of you. I recently started a project, this project has a lot of potential and at first I was really interested in the idea. Once I finished the design I realized I knew very little about the niche and I also had very little interested(The only side I was interested in was sadly the building of the original design.) in the niche also(The niche was animals).

Anyway, I am not sure what to do with the project. I could sell it(Although the design is good the lack of any real content might be the down point of the sale) but I really like the design and it could go well with my portfolio(Which I’m still currently setting up) but without content is it a smart move?

I'm not really sure what to do, so any suggestions would really help me in coming up with a decision.
    My Awesome Signature is awesome...

The design itself probably won't pay you for the time that you have already spent on it.

I would look for some ready made article packs. Some articles can be purchased for as low as $2-$3. You can also hire a writer to generate content.

The next step is to monetize the site with ppc or affliates. Do some social bookmarking and other link building. With some revenue and traffic, you will find a lot more interest in your site.

just keep it as yours.. You can use it in your portfolio. Having a sample of work in applying for a job was very important. that is where they knew your knowledge and skills in that field..
about the content, you can add when you have time for that..

You could hire me to write content for it! I own a small zoo, no joke.

Otherwise, can we see the site?

Content creation is pretty important but think of your design as the foundation of the house, it determines whether your structure will be sturdy and reliable as opposed to flimsy and leaky.

You can always furnish your house but what's important is that structurally it's built to last.

Sounds to me like you've passionately built yourself a house but can't figure out how to furnish it, which is completely fine but also annoying if you were planning on living in it.

So your best bet would be to either use it as a sample of your designing skills

    or

To furnish it and maybe rent it out, turn some profit and use that as a sample of your internet marketing skills.

    Best of luck to you!
    I'll promote your product through video;
How's that sound? Let me know what you think-

Sure, z0o - Welcome to the z0o (It was going to be a static site and then I decided for faster content creation that it would be better idea to use wordpress as the backend and before anyone says it... I'm going to move the giraffe over a little bit later on).

The site looks good. You need some content. How about taking pictures of some animals and upload the photos into a wp gallery plugin. Write a short description of when and where you took the photos.

    Hi, nice design.

I highly recommend reading Seth Godin's book "The Dip".

All of us webmasters are highly enthusiastic about projects when we start them and gradually loose interest. Making content isn't actually that hard and does not take a lot of time. Try setting aside 5 minutes each day for making content. 5 minutes is not that long but work as hard as you possibly can and don't loose focus in this time. By the end of the week you should have a pretty good article, after a month you will have a few and as time goes on you will have a nice collection of information.
