Hi,
This question is directed to those who earn an income managing lots of website. How do you manage 100+ websites?? Do you login the each control panel and do the necessary stuffs? or do you have an software to assist you.?
Q. How do you manage 100 websites/blogs?
A. Poorly. :D
I try to use the same (or similar) templates and software across multiple web sites.
Right now I am running Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, and vBulletin. Obviously my execution isn't following my strategy.
I am going to make an attempt to switch from Wordpress to Wordpress MU, to make updating easier.
Likewise, I could run all of my Drupal sites from one instance of Drupal. That would also make updating easier, and Drupal can be annoying laborious to upgrade.
Joomla and vBulletin have no similar functionality, so I'm out of luck with those.
I built one web page which is nothing but a list of all of my web sites, grouped into categories. I use it as part of my "Control Panel" for managing my "web empire."
btw Will, How many websites you have on which you earn from adsense?
I own 223 domains. Of those, I'd say that about half have web sites running AdSense on them. The others are either 301'd to another domain or they exist just to link to other domains.
This is not necessarily the strategy I would suggest. I have six web sites that didn't earn a single click in January. It really is better to invest your time and energy into making one or two fantastic web sites than a few hundred mediocre web sites.
so will, how much aRe you making from adsense monthly ?
I was over $50k/mo with AdSense, but I'm down to a bit over $30k/mo now due to three factors:
- I sold one of my best sites.
- Google deindexed a bunch of my pages.
- I partially replaced AdSense with NetShelter and other advertisers.
I have a plan in place to get back to $50k/mo with AdSense, but that's not likely to happen until 2010 or possibly even 2011.
I haven't noticed an effect from the slowdown.
Someone at Google took a dislike to the automatically translated pages on some of my sites.
I'm still stinging from the times when I've had sites stop working and only noticed several months later. I've had domains expire and I didn't notice for several months. Other sites broke when I upgraded PHP and I didn't notice for several months. Other sites got hacked and I didn't notice for several months.
Running a complex web empire means you will drop a lot of things. :o
Simplicity... that's the key -- and the goal. :)
Mmmm... passive income. :)
will, do you update every of the 100+ sites daily? i suppose you have a team to have you manage the 100+ websites or do you manage them yourself?
