    I'm Bad Luck

The title doesn't sound business related, but I promise it is! When it comes to doing business deals, whether its freelancing or my personal things, I seem to be bad luck. I start a project then things start happening left and right. Something dies (today my pet rat died and I had a project to turn in), my internet dies off (I have satellite), I can't contact someone, I lose something, or just SOMETHING happens. I have offered discounts and a few free articles, but since freelancing is my only income, I can't do that too often. I feel horrible and embarrassed when something like this happens, but I feel like all I can do is say sorry and move on.

Do you have a lot of bad luck when it comes to your business practices? I'm not the only one that experiences these things, am I?

No, you are not the only one suffering from the cycle of bad luck incidents. I often go through same, whatever I did went complete disaster, broadband don't work, PC suddenly stop working and believe me I went through all this. The situation may appear very irritating and embarrassing but this bad luck will definitely end soon.

This happened to me a couple of times. My entire computer died and was out for about a month, I got tons of emails from people who thought I was scamming, but there nothing I could, I had no email access because my main email account was on the cpu. It took awhile to get everything back in order but all is well now.

Hopefully your clients trusted you enough to forgive you! I always feel so terrible when something like that happens.

Sure we all do have some bad times every now and then, most important is believe in what you are doing, and you'll go through the bad times very quickly.

Do you think most clients are understanding? That's the original reason why I posted it in the business section. To determine how to handle a situation like that professionally and without any real problems.

Your facing Murphy's law I guess.. he said the following:
If anything can go wrong, it will.
But that's life I guess, hopefully it doesn't happen too often, but we all face problems.. if we wouldn't face them, life could get boring

Good luck on your future projects, finger crossed that nothing will happen

I too have been having loads of Bad Luck in working for last 5 months.. Before that I was having a Cakewalk, whatever I touched turned to gold meaning all projects completed ahead of time and even got paid more than promised because of the great quality work i turned in. But last 5 months have been really tough on me too, I too have faced many problems, specially with my health. I have been falling ill way too frequently and other things like bad INTERNET connection, loss of flash drive that had over 50 original articles of a client, some guests dropping in without informing and many more things have happened that have hampered relations with clients.
I can tell you that after a certain time clients too start feeling that the guy is a scammer but actually it is not the case. Many times the problems are such that you just can't discuss it with your client.
I just hope my bad time ends sooner than I expect..
I have plans to return back in a big way.

For you to gain your clients' trust and confidence you must be honest and open to them. Never make excuses and never lie to them. I have experienced similar things happened to me for more than twice now. But telling my clients about my situation along with some sincere apologies will extend their patience.

Accept what they have to say about your service and take it professionally. Do not counter their comments because it can lead to an argument that can ruin your reputation. But take it as your way to get your feet back on the ground.

To give inspiration to yourself, think of the days when your online work was still flourishing. This will build you more confidence for yourself and help you get more ideas on how to deal with similar scenarios when they tend to repeat.
