    I'm planning to start a software Firm

    Hi,

    I am having intentions on starting a software firm.
    Well, what all things are to be planned before I move any further.
    Well, how long will it take to build the buildings and all?

    Anyone can provide me help in this regard?

    What should be the initial man power that I should be planning to recruit?

    Great ambitions. Have you considered starting 'from your garage' or perhaps rent a small office first before taking huge steps like these ? How about starting just by yourself, or in case you really need employees; a good friend or family just to help getting you started?

    A lot depends on your location/country/law/culture etc.

    Well, first of all I'll be starting it with a small office buy renting a small room in my locality itself. But it won't be me doing the things. I'll be just monitoring and looking after the things. I'll be hiring like 5-7 people at first.

    But, I don't have any idea, about what the Software firms doing? I know that some are outsourcing companies, some are producing their own softwares, some are creating software solutions for others etc. But, still, I don't know how to start it? Any ideas?

    My plan is to :-

    ---> Rent a small room at first
    ---> Look for some orders
    ---> Hire some software professionals
    ---> Make them do the things
    ---> Pay them

    But, I don't know how to achieve it. Like how to get orders from clients etc...

    And seriously, I would start working out from on a small scale to see if this business is something you really like AND are able to do. And, before you start delegating, you need to know what to delegate.

    Just get a feeling for this business first and start networking before you take any financial irreversible steps

    Before starting a company you should ask some people that are in the business about everything -- They might be expensive, but that's really worth it, people do need a good marketing plan strategy before starting a company.

    We've been busy on school with marketing, and in those 467 pages I've learned a lot of things, but still that's only a small part from how a company should work (marketing is a little piece for a company, but almost everybody knows that).

    But you can always try

    Thanks Aquarezz. Good job

    As you have said, marketing plays a good role. But there are other things as well that we should consider. Anyways, first of all I'll be starting it online. Then I'll setup a small firm in my locality. I think that would be better for a start

    Are you wanting to create a firm to build and sell a specific software package, or are you wanting to create a firm to sell outsourced software development services?

    If the former, you might benefit from reading my article on Starting a Software Product Company.

    If the latter, are you planning to charge on by deliverables on a project basis or are you planning to charge on a time basis. That decision greatly affects how you should think about headcount.

    Have you looked into the Bangalore Entrepreneurs Meetup Group or Startup Saturday?
