The morons at PayPal have limited my business account four times this week.

Here's their latest email, and the most ridiculously stupid one yet.
Dear Free Internet Media,

Were sorry, but we cannot restore full access to your account until we receive additional information. Please provide a copy of each of the following items:

- Your monthly statement for the bank account ending in XX1234. The statement must show your name, address, and account number exactly as they appear in your PayPal account.

- A current utility bill. The bill must show your name and address exactly as they appear in your PayPal account.

- Your driver's license or passport. Please make the copy as large and as light as possible.

How to provide your information

You can either upload or fax your information to us.

To upload:
- Log in to your PayPal account.
- Go to the Resolution Center.
- Under "Steps to Remove Limitation," click "Resolve."

To fax:
- Please use the fax cover sheet provided by PayPal.
- To print the cover page, log in to your account and click the "Fax Documents" link on the Limited Account Access Details page.
The cover page contains information specific to you, and using it ensures that your documents are directed and handled promptly. If you do not have a PayPal cover sheet, you can create one by including your name, the email address registered on your PayPal account, and the case number starting with PP-xx-xx-xx.

I have been a PayPal customer for many years; there is absolutely no excuse for them to treat me shabbily.



I called them on the telephone and here's what I was told:
  • I'm not in the department that can help you.
  • I can't transfer you to the department that can help you.
  • I can't give you the telephone number of the department that can help you.
  • I can send the department a note, but they won't help you until you acceed to all of their demands.
PayPal's demands are both ridiculous and onerous. No valued customer should be put through this amount of abuse.

These idiots are living in the 1950's. I don't have a utility bill; we have a luxury apartment and utilities are included. I don't get bank statements; print is dead. For a company that was founded on the Internet, PayPal is disgustingly low-tech. They actually sent me a fax number. A fax, how quaint! I guess their telegraph key is broken.

I am depressed to be trapped on a planet with people this stupid.
