    A penny plus a penny....

I remember a teacher in 3rd grade asking our class, "What would you rather have, 1 million dollars? Or a penny plus a penny for one month?"

All of my classmates answered a "MILLION DOLLARS!" with enthusiasm. I did not respond, the teacher asked me why I hadn't resonded like the rest of the kids, and I said, "I am not done doing the math".

When I finished doing the math in my head, I resonded, "I will take the magical penny". Of course, I could not do the math, and here it is:

    Day 1: $.01Day 2: $.02Day 3: $.04Day 4: $.08Day 5: $.16Day 6: $.32Day 7: $.64Day 8: $1.28Day 9: $2.56Day 10: $5.12Day 11: $10.24Day 12: $20.48Day 13: $40.96Day 14: $81.92Day 15: $163.84Day 16: $327.68Day 17: $655.36Day 18: $1,310.72Day 19: $2,621.44Day 20: $5,242.88Day 21: $10,485.76Day 22: $20,971.52Day 23: $41,943.04Day 24: $83,886.08Day 25: $167,772.16Day 26: $335,544.32Day 27: $671,088.64Day 28: $1,342,177.28Day 29: $2,684,354.56Day 30: $5,368,709.12

Here is where I got to; Day 10! And I already saw the value in that penny.

Why am I posteing this on netbuilders? Well, last month I realised that one of my sites making decent money was gaining visitors by 10% per month. This staggered me, not the 10% part so much, but the fact that it was 10% exponentially! I had my very own magic penny!

And as luck would have it, it is now growing at 25% per month! So, the site that has 120,000 hits this month, will have over 1,000,000 hits per month in one year!

The magic of this, imho is forums. The more posts, the more trafic, EXPONENTIALLY.

So, to conclude, I feel the way to retirement is to find a topic you are pasionate about, and start a forum. Build liks and post topics. The first 4 or 5 years of excruciating hard work will blossom like a magic penny!

Nice story, heheh! If nothing, I'll know what to choose between penny+penny and a million.

I would go for the million bucks since over 500 million pennies would be difficult to manage and maybe expensive/impossible to deposit in the bank.

Also, there may not be enough spare pennies in circulation, much like the numbers of visitors needed to visit the exponentially growing website.

On paper it works for the large enterprises such as Walmart and Amazon. 500 million pennies is a lot of money. Even 100k-500k pennies is money.

It seems to make more sense for the small business to focus on arbitrage to set the profit goals rather than marginal increases.
