SEO Training from Market Motive

Market Motive is selling online training courses in the fields of SEO, PPC, Social Media, Web Analytics, Conversion, Fundamentals, and Online PR.

Ordinarily my cynical anti-marketing bias would kick in and drive me away from a sales program like this, but... Todd Malicoat (Stuntdubl) seems to be a pretty clued guy and so I keep looking.

$299/mo isn't expensive if you're serious about using the training. I can't be. I don't have that kind of available time. But, you may be -- or one of your employees may be.

This isn't the right option for everyone, but it could be a very good option for some people. :)

I have never heard of any of those guys, other than Jennifer Laycock from Search Engine Guide. Personally, I am always dubious about any Internet Marketing certification courses, because these is no officially recognized certification course for anything related to Internet Marketing, other than perhaps the PPC certifications offered by Google and some other search engines.

The courses may be good, but the value of the certification won't buy you a cup of coffee.

I will check into Todd Malicoat. I don't know who he is, but if you think he is good, I believe you. :D

The entire "certification" field has always interested me to a degree since my first job long ago dealt with certifying fuel and other tanks for entry by humans...dangerous work, but the one guy who taught the class 6 times a year made very comfortable money.

One friend of mine ended up doing hazardous material handling certification classes twice a month (independent LLC) and makes very comfy money.

Fast forward to programming land, had to go to a java cert course a number of years ago just so the boss could say I had did it

...the instructor was good at teaching that course, but had never produced anything in the real world...

The price for this course seems a bit steep for my time available, but when I make enough to hire someone as a regular employee, I would consider it to ensure a baseline of knowledge.
