    Toll Free Number or Live Customer Chat

    If you have to choose one of them, which one would you go for and why.

    I would go for Live Customer Support because when something you dont know is asked, you dont have to hold up the guy to ask someone else. It gives a bad impression of the company which may damage its reputation.

    It depends on the type of business you are doing IMO. Most of the times people don't like to waste their time chatting with live support guys and they rather prefer to call them. If you are running a real business (offline) then Live Chat isn't a good option. For Online companies Live chat seems to be more suitable.

    I'd personally go with Live Customer Support system.

    I would go for Live Customer Chat because of two reasons.

    1-Cost will be low
    2-A better response to the queries can be provided.

    Just imagine the cost for International Toll Free Number. It will cost you fortune/

    Live customer chat, but it needs to be 24/7, so not only 4 hours a day

    I don't like calling to people, as they want to say everything through phone, but it's very difficult to understand if you're from outside USA. Some words are 'spoken' on another way, than I 'read' them.. that's why I also prefer live chat...

    I even pronounced 'hosting' with a high 'o' I didn't know it had to be pronounced like the word 'ghost' (looking at the ost ofcourse)

    I definitely agree.

    Plus, I can participate in half a dozen chat conversations concurrently -- but only one voice conversation. Voice is seriously inefficient!

    Live chat all the way! You don't even have to splash out on any fancys software. I found this few months back and i bookmarked it because it looks cool =)

    I agree with Aquarezz and Will.

    I prefer chatting over talking. It is just easier to start a chat coversation, than to call someone.

    Being an Affiliate Manager I have experience with both. I am required to call all my affiliates and I also am required to provide support via e-mail and IM. While I prefer using IM for support, I like to talk to my affiliates on the phone so I can get to know them better. Also, I think it's easier to remember/recognize someone's name when you've heard their voice. When I see the name of someone I've spoken with on the phone that pops in my head and I have a better idea of who I am talking to.

    Of course, with IM I can be helping 5 people at once

    Also, being a Live Chat Supporter with TMZHosting.Com, I know there are tons of people that don't know a word from English... I got chats like this: (Serious)

    Chatter: werd I find pannel
    Me: What do you exactly mean? Do you mean cPanel?
    Chatter: sum pannel give please
    Me: Ok, the link to cPanel is Yourdomain.com:2082 / Yourdomain.com/cpanel
    Chatter: do you speak french?
    Me: Yes I do speak French.
    Chatter: how old are you (I was very surprised about this one lol, you can ask Daniel if you don't believe me, he read that sentence too )
    Me: Sorry, I'm here to support clients from TMZHosting or new clients, I can't talk about my personal life sorry.

    *Chatter has left the chat*
    Now imagine someone would do things like that by phone As employee, I think you would just throw away your phone
