N.Y. Man Makes $120G Selling 'Usama's Dead' T-shirts

NEW YORK -- A quick-thinking New Yorker who started selling T-shirts celebrating Usama bin Laden's death made $120,000 in less than two days, TMZ reported Friday.

Maurice Harary, 23, went straight to his New York apartment when he heard Sunday that bin Laden was killed by US forces in a precision raid in Pakistan. He immediately began building a website to sell his "bin Laden is dead" T-shirts.

Harary claimed that his site went live at 3:30am local time Monday and sold 10,000 T-shirts at $12 each by Tuesday night.

The sales added up to $120,000 in less than two days as Americans expressed their relief that the man who masterminded the 9/11 bombings was dead.

10k t-shirts for $12 each? That cannot be $120k in profits then In best case $10-20k. Well done, although I hate these hypes, and especially celebration over death. Makes Americans look the same way when parts of Arab world paraded over 911.

In a period of 2 days??? he just made a website and boom???

If this happen to be true, there is so much work behind of that and also investment.

Can you sit for a second to think on how much preparation must be done to serve that demand???

Profits are probably right around $100,000. You can get a two or three color t-shirt, at 10,000 quantity, for around 2.00 to 3.00. So, he made anywhere from 90 - 100K.

i think much less .... how abt printing ? shipping and bla bla bla ......
and all the havoc after 10k orderm sometime huge order doesn't means good profit but it does bring huge exposure now
congra he make more then 120k by creating US media attention

I just told you how much the shirt would cost for printing. With a quantity of 10,000 (he probably ordered more), he could get them for $2 or $3 per shirt. And shipping might be handled on top of the $12. So, he's making a pretty penny.

Sonny Cool, $100K is about right for low quality cotton 2 color prints when you find the right provider with the current economy based on my experiences with shirt sales in a non-profit I ran for the past few years before moving to Germany (separate from my day job) in the U.S. Shipping is on top of the sales price. Quality of the shirts wouldn't be awesome, but good enough...

Cause not long time ago, i do provide/supply small medium Factory Uniform and T shirt, which i can't do it (prices different is to far) + new EU/US textiles import rules + US labour (shipping, arranging and bla bla), might be my jap partner there, dare not hire illegal worker hehhehehehehhehhee ...... anyway, sometime ago, us is good market for everything ......

I found a place offering blank T-shirts for $1, The Home of the $1 T-Shirt It should cost around $2 after the screen printing.

You don't have to pay Bin Laden anything for using his likeness So, the rest of the money is pure profit.

I wonder what he spent and how he promoted the site to get that many people in two days?

One has to think that not everyone bought that was at the site.
