Cookies don't seem to work right

I don't know why but vBulletin has been acting strange since I moved it / upgraded it to 3.8.2

Every inactive hour it logs people out even though they have the remember me box checked. I've reset the cookies, and when I had no modifications installed it did that.

Is there an alternative to the cookie? Or is there a way to fix this problem...

That domain has canonicalization issues, which can cause troubles with cookies.

Cookies for the www and the non-www domains are seen as separate and unrelated cookies. When a visitor clicks a link that takes them from the www to the non-www version of the page (or vice versa), they are switching to a different set of cookies.

I'd suggest picking either the www or the non-www version of the domain and using a 301 redirect to force the choice.

Wabuf also has canonicalization issues, but they are even stranger.

When I use the www, I get a blue theme. When I don't use the www, I get a green theme.

I'd fix the canonicalization issue and see if the cookie problems start to disappear.

It's randomly selected and it seems I've managed to fix it somehow, I did some sort of tweaking on the cookie selection and it seemed to work.

When I add the 301 redirect in Direct Admin, it messes up wabuf.com/forums and makes it go to www.wabuf.comforums/

Any ideas why it would do that?

EDIT: maybe I need to recompile apache or something hmmm....

Add a '/' to your one side of your redirect, or delete the '/' from the other side of your redirect.

Thanks seems I had to go with a .htaccess and it works now all goes to the www from the non www
