    Forum Promotion Plans - Ideas

    Hey guys,

I've just installed a forum onto the World of Warcraft site I run.

I have never ran a forum before so this is my first foray into this type of website, i decided to setup the forum on with www[.]waranvil[.]com. you can find the forum at /forum.

Basically guys I don't really know where to start, what's the best way to drive traffic to this beyond the obvious have links on the main site. It would be nice to get a little discussion going on the best tried and tested methods for forum promotion. I figure there is not better place to ask than here, given the growth I've watched netbuilders enjoy over the past year or so.

There are many things to do and I am sure you will get lots of tips here for this.

On lighter side I would say one liner 'Keep promoting & contributing'

For my Indian friends it's 'Lage Raho', I am sure they will agree on it

    G!

Website promotion plan totally depends on the objectives of the website that is a junction of three things such as business, Internet and customer. Website promotion plan is required to make an effective website. Best promotional plan helps you to get more traffic to your site but before implementing a plan you should be aware of all aspects of your website.

I'm after information on what people have done that's got traffic to their forum, not advice on the right frame of mind you need to be in to get the job done! I think i have that covered, at least I hope I have.

If you didn't notice by my sig, I own << url snipped to comply with forum policy. Its another tech support forum. I've got it up to PR6 by link trading, and I've been promoting it every other way I can to get people to post problems, etc. but the forums still as active as I'd like them to be. What do you think I should do?

Thanks for the comments, this thread is not exactly going where I'd hope it was. Maybe I should have made it a year back when netbuilders was full off all the good stuff

    Cheers anyways.

Forum promotion is just like promoting other sites.Adopt all on-site & off-site SEO techniques & bring it to top in Google search for the keywords, then it'll generate lot of traffic.

It's an online game forums, so I think there will be no problem getting a lot of members. All you need to do is be friendly online, invite your friends online and make them refer your forums to all the people they know. You can also join a guild and share the forum with your fellow members.

Another idea is get the word out of social networking sites, I'm pretty sure that you will find a lot of gamers out there.

Promoting forums is one tough niche. In most cases the market is so saturated, its going to be tough to pick up members. I just closed my gaming forum that was 2 years old because nobody was signing up or posting.

One of the ways that I suggest people promote their forums is on youtube. If you go to youtube and take a look, sites like ign and youtube channels where they post reviews of games. You could follow their example and post your own videos.
