How to mod MyBB:

Everyone wants to make there MyBB the best or like vBulletin, but they don't want to pay the hefty fees. This post on NB is made to help you avoid that. With my forum, I made it so I could be like vbulletin, so I decided to go on a mission.

Step One.. How am I going to get the Blogs Feature:

I did a quick google search and found an easy way, a feature I could add called “MyBlogs”, which I got from: MyBB - Mods - Error

Step Two: An Itrader System

Easy, I went to MyBB Source and found MyTrader, still in a public beta, but still good: [Public Beta] MyTrader

Step Three: Your Own theme
MyBB - Free PHP and MySQL Forum Software had so many to choose from it was easy.

Now, I have a forum almost as good as vBulletin, but still with more mod's to come...

The profile comments feature, I felt it was a must have to be able to make a vistor message so I got this mod: MyBB - Mods - Profile Comments

There are so many mods that I could find. Just look around, so if you can't afford that vbulletin license then don't fret, you can find the way to make it good without the cash.

I think MyBB is definitely a great forum software, and in my opinion better and less bloated than vBulletin.

I currently own a MyBB-savvy web host too (normal web host, but we specialize in MyBB) that will gladly install and help you out with your MyBB forum!

I have a client that was using vBulletin on a forum with about 520k posts, and it was on a dedicated server - using up a huge amount of disk space with a large database. I transferred it to MyBB for her free, and now her forum fits nicely on our shared plans and the database is have the size.
