Forum Admin Gets Suspended Sentence for Not Deleting Offensive Posts

I was a bit shocked reading this. Please share some of the things we have to/( we must) take care of while we own a forum..

Is it useless placing a disclaimer in the forum saying that am not liable for anything that has contributed by a user??

Is it legal hosting the forum outside the country? Will it give any advantages..

If you have good money and good lawyer with you that you must not have any problem . because you have mentioned that users can move forward on their own response but many times media give too much coverage to such case and then it because to hard to provide any relief to accuser .

Yes according to me it is legal to host the forum outside the country and second benefit is that - if you are sitting in other country then law need some time to take action against you after getting permission from your country and in between this time duration you can talk to your advisers and save yourself .

You are right buddy but we can only control websites and blogs operated by single users . When you operate a big community or forum where you have too many different users then its hard to control everyone . And if something happens by mistake then few part of the blame and actions against that crime always come on owners .

yeah exactly,,,lol a bit scared now...don't know what happens if somebody does something like this..but my forum is a not an adult one lol...

I will say that in webmaster life and business luck plays very important role . If you are lucky then you big mistakes can be ignored by public but if your luck is not with you then small scene can also create huge problems .

I noticed one case on adult niche few weeks back where we have two sites . One site is new which is publishing adult comics in Hindi and in different indian languages and other side we have worlds well known forum which also get 80% traffic for adult section .

Now new site is banned in all Indian ISP's because they publish indian character in comics but that comic is promoted on second forum I mentioned and receives huge traffic from there . That forum contains incest stories in different religions and languages , I noticed one story in which they used god name many times as mantra in stories but no action is taken on that forum .

Forum is exbii and hosted in USA outside India . But all stories are in different indian languages and you can check alexa rank of this forum .

So I can say this is just a luck factor or no bady want to mess with this forum owner .

exactly..luck plays a very good role.....and i checked this site exbii..it is having pretty good traffic.. I think if somebody again makes a complaint..things will go against them..

Just do as moral say to do it. I forbid at my own forums next things:

Warez (programs, video, music, any kind).
Porn (any kind)
Stolen content without announcing the source.
Offensive acts to another members.
Offensive acts to certain things (religion, politics, ...).

If people dont like that, they are free to go to another forum from same niche.
Internet is wide :0
