Time to call it quits?

When do you think it would be a good time to call it quits with running a forum? I have lost interest off and on for almost 2 years and it's absolutely pathetic. It's happening again now and I think I may know the cause of it: It's because of my health and real world schedule. I don't want to give it up completely, but I just want to give it up for a while. The problem is, I'd said I was taking a break before and I ended up coming back early. Should I just disappear for a while and let someone else run the show for a while, or what should I do? I can trust my co-founder, as he has said if I ever need to be away I could just leave and he'd take the show over, but I don't know what else to do. I'm tired of the same routine: Promote promote promote, post post post, post exchanges post exchanges... you know the deal. Should I just unceremoniously leave for a while? We already have quite a bit of staff as it is. I guess I'm just tired of the same old routine, and the forum has been up for six months. I have no wish to give up this forum altogether, as we have been through a lot already.

Honestly, when you are getting no new members and no/few posts for more than a week. It really depends on how much work you have put in.
Ashley if your talking about your forum chattingtime I say keep going. But if you just need a break take a small break for awhile.
I'm taking a small break and seeing what happens. If I still have no interest after my break is up, then I'll have to call it quits and pass the board over.

Well, I think this is one sign of me losing interest, as I'm not putting much effort into promotion anymore. Back when we first started I was constantly going from forum promotion site to forum promotion site, and I think that's where my interest is really dwindling down. I'm going to try give it up for a while and like I said, if my interest doesn't return, I'm never doing this again. I kind of miss the days when I was just a regular member anyways.

Sad to see that might happen. Your forum looks like its going to end up being very successful.
Check out what I replied earlier:

I was talking about why I'm not putting so much effort into advertising these days.
Yah I see some people do like just being a regular member because it gets stressful in owning a forum the bigger they get.
You know, I wonder if my anxiety with big crowds in real life might have something to do with it as well? Because when I left CT we were three away from 100 members.

    Ashley,

Perhaps you'd find the following article by Shaun (aka "Blind Bandit") useful: "Stepping Down From a Staff Position."

Re: Time to call it quits?

I think the one would be my problem. I spend too much time looking at what the forum needs as a whole and not what I myself need. I put the forum first far too often. I seriously need to call it quits. Also, the real life and feeling burnt out is what's doing me in as well. I'm going to resign.

Just promote someone else as Founder or a trust worthy Administrator and let them run the forums until you feel like you can come back.

Well, I decided to call it quits. I don't see myself doing this anymore anytime soon. Way too stressful at the time.
You do realize that forum promotional websites are the sites which bring in active members right?
Yes, and that's what I have been using.
