Well, I was posting on a forum acouple days ago, when the cirus scanner popped up, it was that fake scanner again. I cant say where its from, because it may ruin the rep of the forum, but it wasnt from here or fp.net. I've gotten the fake scanner 5 times within 3 days on that forum. Best thing about it, my AVG and other software blocks it.

It's the advertisements displayed on Forumotion sites, and it's actually pretty common across free forum hosts. Most don't check to see where their ads are coming from, they just use one of those fancy networks. Since there are few checks, people who get paid to place spyware on your computer take advantage and use it. Chances are the scanner is picking up on one of those ads, which explains why it's not *every* visit, but rather every few, and why it only lasted for awhile.

My advice is to not worry too much, or report the advertisement to Forumotion themselves. Depending on how their ad system works, they'll either fix it themselves or pass on the information.

Umm from my experiance in the whole hacking and infecting field I've picked up a few things... one of these being... YOU CAN'T GET A VIRUS FROM A FRIKING PICTURE!!!

The only way you can get infected on a windows PC is by manually installing yourself or by opening something that contains a worm... Most woms and such will be found by an anti-virus right off the bat anyways but you can't get infected from an image such as an ad...

I have also come to know that google chrome's security fails and gives off faulse possitives... don't worry about it. There are three things wrong, you've either got some auto downloader codes on your site and your actualy infecting members, it's giving off a faulse positive OR he's talking out of his a** and looking for attention...
