I made Exilian... I dunno, just happened really. My mod was hosted on a nother guy's forums, his techie left and they collapsed so I made my own forum and he moved into the Techie role. And that's the 'zilian.
it's simply because I love forum's life. I'd love to meet more people, make good friends as we discussed over interesting things. that's how I created two forums so far. ^__^
I don't run any forums anymore, I mean I sort of help run CF, even though I took a real long leave of being away but I can finally come on here with no problems and hope it stays that way.
I always worked on wanting to start a gaming site, something unique to the genre of sites, but never could find the staff or even an admin that had the same ideas and thoughts, and would just be childish about it, and make weird choices.
I would say the would be 12 year olds who thought that a site should look like this, cause it's cool in their world, but professionalism is something people look for, especially for a gaming site.
I wanted to establish something everyone could come too, and feel at home without the site being aimed towards only a set of games...
So, maybe I will open it one day but I want some people that are willing to work with my thoughts, and be professional about their actions..
Sorry, anyways, it's all about being able to make an impact for me.. something to be remembered for..
Good staff are hard to find, 'tis true. The web has a lot of communities now, and one suspects that the pool of good staffers has not increased proportionally.
It's because either they said screw it and moved onto something else, or decided to run their own, and have made it successful enough that they didn't go onto working with anyone else.
I may have to put up a post here asking anyone who wants to help out with a semi-gaming forum/site/blog or w/e lol.
Well, I started my gaming forums, Unlimitaled, because I wanted to create a gaming community that prospered. Maybe not above others, but at least prospered. I started my Pokemon forums, Spiritual Lights, to create a fun, Pokemon loving community that would help people make new friends and whatnot. Not to mention all of the Pokemon forums I've been going to are slowly dying out.
There is a reason for that, and this goes along with this topic, I don't wanna derail this thing, but this is a main reason why I always wanted a site with a good active staff and people willing to show up....
People slowly get older, and decide that things become way more important then the website, or that Pokemon is not their thing anymore, and the wanna go onto something else. It just happens lol. Keep up with what your doing and continue doing it.

Also, another reason is because I want to introduce the world to the amazing music of Yutaka Ozaki, who happen to be the person my forum is "dedicated" to, I guess you could say. So I finally pulled through with the idea of running my own forum. The idea got especially appealing after the admin at a forum I used to be a very active member and moderator at, who is a total playboy, found a girl he thought was cuter than me, so he fired me. Asshole, what kind of reason is that to hire/fire your staff? Well, I like to think that I'm a kind person, so despite what he says, I think the other members there liked me because of that, and not because I was "cute", or anything of that sort.
Anyway, I guess also the though of being my own boss, and deciding how I want the forum to look like, without anyone bitching on me, mwahaha. ;=)
a forum i had been on for 4 years closed, and i wanted to make a new place for the friends i made there to chat on.
I had a small programming site that I used to exchange source code with a group of programmers. We added tutorials with the source code. I created the first version of the site in 1995. In 1998 I used a module in Frontpage to add discussions to the tutorials section.
I noticed that the discussions were used to ask questions. I downloaded wwwboard and opened up a help forum on the site. The host I used at the time shutdown and the forum was lost. It had a large amount of threads. I moved to new a new host and installed UBB. The UBB forum had over 1 million posts and due to an error on my part I lost them all.
I installed vBulletin and started fresh again and 2 years and 2.5 million posts later I sold the site to iNet Interactive.
