Re: Favourite forum software
Hello!
I would recommend MyBB. phpBB is a good software but MyBB is somewhat better. MyBB is basically a forum software for those newbies. phpBB offers great modifications and themes, but there's just one major problem. Installing modifications required file editing. I know the modification folder offers a installation guide, but sometimes the person could get accidentally mess up and could get an error. Do you have to do all that again? unless you backup your files and databases. As for MyBB, all you need to do is just upload the files to the correct directory and activate the plugin. It's that simple. But I have to agree that phpBB styles are better than MyBB themes.
Re: Favourite forum software
I love IP.Board. It is in my opinion, the best forum software out there. The support is great, the features rock, and it's simple for your users to use.
Re: Favourite forum software
I really like phpbb3, but i can't stand vbulltin and ip. boards

Out of curiosity, why so?
Re: Favourite forum software
PhpBB and MyBB are my two favorite. Very good mods for both of them.
Re: Favourite forum software
vBulletin would be my favourite paid software, and phpBB3 would be my favourite free :)

This. Although vBulletin and MyBB are also top contenders too.
Re: Favourite forum software
I dont like vbulletin the AdminCP interface seems all messy and packed. IPBoard is very good the AdminCP is userfriendly and easy to use...
Re: Favourite forum software
My favourite forum software is MyBB, I am loyal fan of MyBB since the beginning and I would be until the end. But I am also impressed by the IPB 1.3 (Free Version).
Re: Favourite forum software
vBulletin has the worst Admin CP, and the culture within the support and development is horrible. Plus, they will never improve now that Kier Darby's out of the team. The best commercial forum software is IPB. It's always constantly improving, and the support there is not afraid to go into your forums and fix your errors without you having to do anything other than create a support ticket. If not IPB, MyBB is great too. Both are excellent when it comes to theming and mod installation (in most cases, no file edits are necessary). MyBB has the most flexible theme system out there, and all it really takes is some (x)HTML, CSS, and variables, really. I'll also give an honourable mention to SMF as well, because their package manager has a high level of potential in use, not only to install mods, but to upgrade versions of software and theme install as well.
