I can always prefer it. IPB is the slowest forum script, phpbb and vB work much faster. Also vB and phpbb look more neat. The fact that it is not free doesn't make it better.

How is vBulletin faster than IPB? Less Ajax, 200+ queries on the CMS and an overall heavy package would make it faster?
What are you basing it is faster on? Do you have any metrics. My IPB explodes, and it is very heavily loaded and used. Minimum average of 50-100 active members.
IP.Board, phpBB and MyBB.
