Article writing- No longer a mainstream marketing method

I think article writing is now purely done for back links, as traffic from submission to article directories is very low. What do you say?

  2. Yes it is mainly for backlinks.

However on sites like Ezine when you become some Gold author which is 10 approved posts then you do get some good traffic.

You have to write more than one :P Once you hit about a threshold of 10, you'll see awesome benefits to your sites.

  4. MightGuide has received 738 visitors from EzineArticles in the last 30 days. Tech-FAQ has received 344.

I invest in article marketing for the backlinks, but the direct traffic is a nice bonus.

The links from the big directories (buzzle ezines goarticles ) are weighted heavy, but they also get you good traffic, merely because of the sheer volume of traffic they in turn get.

This is why using little directories is a poor use of time.

I mean, if you have the time to rewrite an article (or get it rewritten) I think putting some links in from smaller directories would be worth it. You could dominate (become the #1 author) and reap all of the benefits from your category.

Get a team of people from your website to start rating your articles and watch the great migration begin. Yay SM storming.

There's no doubt that spinning an article and submitting 100 variations to 100 directories is a real value, but I wouldn't be submitting "pure" unique content to them.

Most of them barely get indexed.

I probably have 10,000 links in small directories, but lucky if a few hundred show up

I invest a lot on article marketing as well, Getting those valuable backlinks and traffic is really a huge bonus, and specially works great for niche sites.

once you get above the initial status how long does it take for articles to be published. At the moment I've only published 6 and they took around 1-3 weeks to be made live.
