    duplicate content?

    Hello Nets,

I write an article which I then publish some of the directories, then I put the article on my website/blog and post it to a few forums.

I'm confused as to exactly how duplicate content works.....Can anyone explain? Thanks

    Thanks in Advance.

Never publish an article on your site that you have already published elsewhere. That is duplicate content and the copy on your site will very likely eventually get filtered out.

If you are going to publish an article on other sites, make sure that the version you publish on your site is substantially different than the version you publish in article directories.

In this case you are doing it backwards. You should post this article to your own site first so that the search engines log your site as being the first instance of this article. Then wait days or a week or so before re-distributing it to article directories (if you need to). And then the battle for SERP domination begins for this article where the SEO of the pages comes into play (the content of the page is more than just the article).

It is a lazy approach to submit the same article to other sites IMO. It's best to re-write it so that each directory receives a different version. Like Top Dogger says, make it substantially different. Otherwise, only one site will rank highest for the article. With many different versions, you can get many more top-ranking pages on the web with links back to your site.

    Punishment?
    Gessh...
How come no one ever bothers to go to google to find out exactly what they consider duplicate content and what they actually do when there are 2 or more sites with the same content.

Bottom line, google does NOT punish websites, does not de-index websites, does not remove websites for having any content that could be considered duplicate content!

Why is it, that I can post on my blog the same thing that is on another blog, and bam!
My blog is on first page for that content?

What I am saying is, check with google and then do NOT be afraid of duplicate content ever!
Got an article, safe to post on your blog or site first, then submit it to every article directory, etc.

Again, waste of time and whatever to spin articles (99% of spun articles are crap!!!!!!) just to not have the same article in more than one place.

I could not have said it any better. I used to think the same till I ran several tests and like another poster already said. It is best to publish an article on your site first then re-distribute it using article syndication etc ....

Those who are students of Dan Theiss will know offhand.

Yes I would also agree on that too! Google would not punish anyone who does that. Though I heard from someone that you should not post the same content on the same website.

A Content is the most vital aspect of any website and is considered as the life of a website.A website without quality content is a waste from user point of view,The duplication of content or plagiarism should be avoided and is a crime.A duplicate content will effect the website harmfully. So keep your website free from duplicate content and save your website........

  8. I agree with Andy101, you definitely should post the article on your site first and get some links to it so it's indexed first--then allow others to post it all they want.
Need links? Try AuthorLinks where you can buy or sell links based on Authorship and Klout score. Check out my blog or like me on Facebook.

Always, before publishing your newly written article you have to confirm that whether it is duplicate or written on website elsewhere by the quick option of Copyscape. It will show you that either your article is unique or dup0licate.
