    Google Translate for Websites

Google Translate announced today that the tool can now be embedded directly into your website and the site content can be automatically translated into 50 languages based on the default language setting of the reader's browser.

Official Google Blog: Translate your website with Google: Expand your audience globally

This tool looks like it is most useful for casual translation of pages, and is very different from the automated translation script.

I think anyone who makes money from AdSense, or who wants to increase the number of indexed URLs by including a translation script would probably avoid Google's new toy, but it could be very useful for anyone who owns a site where the primary goal is to provide information, and perhaps encourage users to sign up for an email newsletter.

  2. its a good news. because it is better than having a global translator wp plugin that sucks. also good for those sites that provides language tutorials.

  3. It might be a great tool for translating the main information on the website. Please note that the translation is not perfect.

I run a couple of test translations and the results are not satisfactory for me. Of course, you cannot compare an automatic translation to a manual, human translation.

It is for translating smaller text sizes and not lots of information...

Totally agree, but for many webmasters this may be all they need, and is a useful way of catering to a different audience.
