    Quantity or Quantity

    Hi,

I have been working on http://yourtvsite.com/. The question that I have is about classic TV shows. Some were on TV for years with a lot of episodes.

My question is this. Would you add all of the episodes of one show and have it done or would you add a few episodes of a bunch of different TV show?

I am concerned that when I open the site to the public if you only see a few episodes of a tv show you won't come back thinking that the site don't have a lot on your favorite tv show.

My other way of thinking is if I take the time to put all 634 episodes "Gunsmoke" & 226 episodes of "Have Gun Will Travel" That is 860 post right there.

Because you never get a second chance to make a first impression. What would you do?

Thank in advance for your time.

Try your best to put up all the episodes of each show. By doing so, users will have a positive impression towards your site. Knowing that your site has all the episodes, many users would bookmark or favorite your site, for future reference.

I sometimes visit sites with only a couple of episodes listed, and I don't go back for more. The sites that have full listings are the ones that make it to the top. You are right about making the right first impression. If you get them hooked, they will definitely come back for more!

By the way, on a side note, is that current theme a unique theme? I am looking for something like that, with the time and percentage bar, let me know please. - Thank you

I was thinking the same way you are. Here is my down side I am just one person adding the shows by hand. Adding 860 post as an example means only two different TV shows would be added. Where if I started with just 10 shows each I could place 86 different TV shows on the site in about the same amount of time.

That is where I am lost at what would be better for starters on a first impression.

That is not a theme, it is a plugin that you add that shows the count down.

You can find more about it here.

For the classic shows, there's too many episodes to post them all in one shot. What about posting the TV series in 'season format'?

    Pilot
    Best of Season One
    Best of Season Two
    The Complete 5th Season
    Final Episode
    Final Episode

    I agree with bogart.
A bit at a time segmented like that is better than all at once.
Plus if you have a Season One, with a note that Season Two will soon be available, people will come back.
Better if you say that to be notified when Season Two is added to join your email list or have them subscribe to rss.

    Hi,

Like that idea about one season at a time it allows for more different posts.

I also plan on it being a members site for comments and such that way I can contact members on updates.
