Thread: What should be the price for a 500 words article.

My rates vary from 1.3 cents up to 2 cents. The cost I charge is based upon time spent, difficulty of the content, how long it is, and what it is being used for. I'm not going to practically give away an article that is going to be used in an e-book for nothing at all.

Does the author have a degree or certification on the topic? That would increase the price as well.

I do not think its possible to say "how much for a 500 word article", when there are a lot of factors that would affect the price.

I personally would pay more for a 500 word article on health issues, if it was written by a doctor with 20+ years experience in family medicine. As compared to a high school drop out that knows nothing on the topic. That way I could put the authors information at the end of the article and establish my blog as a source of articles written by experts.

I know some high school drop outs that are insanely intelligent. Degrees don't always mean a lot. Of course, for medical things, it should. haha.

Degrees mean a lot but the worth depends on the University, Major and GPA.

A marketing professional with experience in a specific industry should expect to earn $100 per article.

current price on most forums are 1 cent per word. Some even charge $2 per hour in making articles and within that time they are expected to accomplish 2-3 articles.

What??? IT means $2 for 2-3 articles.. Or I just misunderstood something?

I see where you are coming from on that. Definitely.

I used a guy once and he was $3/500 words and his articles were great but sadly he has stopped writing. But I think $5 is a reasonable price if the article is well written if it makes you want to read on and if it has little or no mistakes. But now when I have money to outsource I go with Sturat as his team consistently do great articles.

Yes. I see alot of same rates in freelance sites. Some even have their rates at $1.67 an hour(it's a pity). This global crisis is really making it difficult to make their rates higher.

It's totally depend on you how much you will charge to your customer. But It's totally depend on customer how much they want to pay
500 words $5 is not bad price in DP many offer $3.5 to $4 for the same service

I've paid between $1 and $15 per 500 word article. A $1 article generally makes sense, but doesn't explain how to do anything or what something is - I use these for promotional purposes. A $15 article is ready to publish to a quality site, without any revision required.

Depends on what you need the article for. I pay 1$ for my 500 word articles, they are great and all I need. People spending more then 5$ for a 500 word article imo is crazy, you can train your writers to write the way you want.
