Where are y'all promoting your directories?

What are the current directories of directories?

How else can you promote a directory?

I'd like to use the NetBuilders Directory to promote this site and bring us new members.

It should be submitted in different webmaster forums ( directory section) and free web directories list like addurl.nu to get submissions

My votes for Vilesilencer as well. Posting in just about any webmaster related forum, as well as directories of directories seems to yield the best results.

webmaster forum is the best place to poromote directories,

join any best webmaster forum and post a thread that u providing free submissions at your directory. u will get lots of submission in few hours. depend on forum reputation and user quantity.

Promote where the potential users are.

To get links (content) to your directory:

Webmaster forums
Webmaster blogs
Google/Yahoo groups (webmaster related of course)
Digg
Twitter (your own, or pay someone to tweet about it)
Webmaster related websites (banners or text links)

To get users (visitors who are searching websites)

Forums (related to your niche)
Blogs (related to your niche)
Google/Yahoo groups (related to your niche)

Those came into my mind righ now.

And then, of course, you can hope you get high on serps.

Thanks, have not yet started promoting Mortgage Corner | World Wide Mortgage Directory enough and will follow your advice first!

Obviously it helps if you actually rank for some keywords related to your directory. If it's a niche directory, and you're lucky enough to have something like "keyworddirectory.com" then you may get some traffic through rankings.

I personally like to find a few expired domains related to the topic and 301 them to the directory (or actually find some expired domains and 301 redirect them to the appropriate categories).

And, of course, if it's a brand new domain you'll need to 301 an expired domain to that brand new domain in order to overcome Google's "newness" factor, whereas they just seem to hate newly registered domains.

I'm actually in the process of reviving my old Books Music Video directory and starting a new niche one, Local Home Builders, so this is definitely a helpful thread.
