This is true. I have used it and it does help for sure! We have a PR 3 at our forum :)
When submitting your site to directories, look for ones that manually review every site. This will help to keep the spammers out.
Hi guys,
I have submitted a site to more than 400 directories. But still now I don't have even a single listed link from any of these directories for that site. Why this is so? will directory submissions give links? If so how long it will take to be listed? and if not what is the use of submitting to thousands of directories?
Please share your opinions, thanks..
Yes. Directory submissions will increase backlinks to your website. However, when you submit your site to free directories, it may take up to six months for them to list your website. That is why you don't see any baclinks to your site yet. :D
@hendricius you submit links in free directories {i think} so here is the some point ......
* free directory submission take time to accept free links if directory have good pagerank but after link accept you will get index soon and your links is accept in less time period if directory is new but in this condition search enging take time to index your link.
may i know how many days before you submit your url and directory page ranks. :)
Alright - this is a good question and it deserves a good answer.
1 - a small fraction of those directories might actually approve your site. Some of the directories, the admins are no longer around, some will reject your submission just because, and the others you might just get added.
2 - how are you checking the backlinks? Is it through google webmaster tools? If so, you can expect 6 - 12 weeks before the link will show up in your account. The last time my backlinks were updated was over 2 months ago, a full 8+ weeks.
3 - the search engines might be good at crawling a page, but their not perfect. Do not expect all of your links to be found. I have posted links 3+ years ago, and google still has not found them. Now explain that one to me. I can go to the site, see the link and its nowhere to be found in my google webmaster tools. Maybe in another 2 - 3 years google might find it.
There are a lot of reasons "why" the backlinks are not showing up.
It has now been eight weeks. :)
I've dirtied the water a bit by doing other link building for two of these sites.
The two sites for which I've done other link building added an average of 5-6 new page impressions per day.
The third site, for which I did no additional link building, saw it's average number of page impressions fall by one per day.
I've misplaced the list of URL's for the second round of tests, but when I recover that data I'll analyze it also.
Right now, directory submissions look pretty useless.
Can you tell some good directories or effective ideas, which can give me some back links at least with in 2-3 months? I did the submissions three months before for the site NewGenre Software and BPO Solutions but till the date I could not find even a single link for the site from any of the directories..:(
