who knows, if they get big and start saying to submit you have to pay, you will be glad as you wont have to pay, as you submitted before!

It's still a link and a backlink. It still does good to your site. But I think it would be better if the PR of the site is 1 above. To be sure, consult this website for directories grouped in their corresponding PR.

A lot of these posts are incorrect. There are only a list of maybe less than ten directories I submit my sites to. Be very cautious about which directories you have your sites included in. Google views many directories as spammy and will downgrade your site if they are not respected.

And remember, I say this all the time, that most of the directories with page rank?
It is only for the main page!
The inner pages where your link will show up will have little to no page rank.
I get a laugh out of people who should know better to say "my directory is page rank 3, so add your sites now" and those that do? End up on a non page ranked page!
I also get a laugh out of people who should know better to say "I just submitted my link to a page rank 3 directory. I will get good link juice". And when they check, as they should, they find out they are on a page than has no page rank.

    My point is this:
It does not matter what the main page rank is if the page your link ends up on has no page rank.

    Hy,
I'm not an expert, but to post my opinion, I think any backlink its good.
And that directory can have a higger PR in the apropiate future.

    Post Re:

Try to collect back links from high Pr directories. If you not get this get lower PR back links which have at least Do Follow link attribute.

Web directories are similar to the yellow pages in your phone book.As per my opinion and experience you can do directory submission on low PR websites. There's virtually no better indicator that a page will pass link how much value than observing its ability to rank for the terms it targets.
