Thread: is it okay to submit link to a lower pr directory?

  1. #31
The PR is not important but one thing to check is the directory age as there are a lot of useless directories built on dropped domains.

If your purpose is just to get backlinks from low pr submission sites, then it will be okay but there are many platforms to use to increase your site's popularity.

These days I don't do submissions on free web directories anymore. From my own experience, out of 100 free submissions, there would be around 10 web directories approving my site, but they will soon remove the site to make room for the upcoming submissions. There are hundreds, even thousands sites submitted for approval on those free directories each day, so it's definitely not worth your time & effort.

Submitting to low quality directories is the kiss of death ever since the Penguin updates started. This is no longer a good SEO tactic.

The only PR that has ever mattered is the PR of the page where your link appears. For almost all low-quality directories, that value is n/a. The PR of the directory's home page has never had any SEO value.

Even most paid directories have been penalized with a PR of n/a for all inner pages, so a cost does not mean it's a higher quality directory.

    Bottom line is this:
Save time and money by not submitting to any directory!
    Even niche directories.
Save time and money by not using some so called seo expert who does this!

All types of backlinks are necessary, so its not that only high pr backlinks should be there always , High PR backlinks are important but low pr directory sites will not affect your website.

You are incorrect about this. It may not have affected your country, but Google's Penguin updates specifically targeted low quality directories in the USA and most of the world. About 99% of all directories are low quality. If you get too many links from these directories, it will negatively impact your rankings.

The PR of the home page is irrelevant. The only PR that matters is the PR on the page where your link appears. For 99% of all directories, the PR of all the inner pages is n/a, which means that directory has been penalized by Google.

The only people who will tell you otherwise are the people trying to sell directory links.

Most so called SEO companies have backed away from their directory submissions.
Only ones left selling such are shady SEO people, directory owners, and newbies who have yet to learn directories are not the way to go.
