    another domain scam...

I received a mail from an address at webhostingandmail.com

    Hello,

We have an offer for your domain name. What is your asking price?

Our company invests in domains and developed sites. In case you have a

    list
of domains for sale, please send the list with prices in plain text.
We prefer "dot coms", "dot nets" and easy-to-remember names.
    Regards,

    Daniel Sullivan

I did not like the mail because there's no company or other contact details mentioned. Webhostingandmail.com directs to webhostingclue.com, can't really see whether the latter site is legitimate or not. Whois shows a Hong Kong adress.

Having searched on the net for the name of Sullivan and webhostingandmail.com, it looks like they are associated with the common 'appraisal' scam.

This letter arrived just days after I sent out an mails to potential end-users in the USA so initially i thought someone replied. It's probably coincidence because the end user mails i sent where carefully researched. Besides I am only looking to sell to an end-user and am not interested to sell to another domainer, else I might develop the domain myself.

It looks like they are skipping the appraisal scam in the introductory letter, but I'll bet they would require it if you respond with a list of names.

Seem's like there everywhere not just domain scams...really weird how some people actually fall for it when it's quite obvious its a scam.

That's a scam. That just looks like those tastily informative e-mail being bombed by spammers. I think what they do is they harvest emails from targeted site, e-mail 'em and see if they'll fall into the trap.

Definitely a scam, the fact that they can say that their company is confidential and not mention the name is enough evidence for that. And yes, you did get your evidence after searching the internet

I have received mails of containing offers fro my domains .I think the mails are generated with the email address associated with the domain names. After receiving this i have simply activated the private who-is information with my DNS

I also received similar mail once. At first i was bit excited as they told me they where willing to give me $ 500. But there is a catch I have to make the value assessment from a site. Then I asked my friends and come to know that it's a domain appraisal scam
