BackOrdering a Domain
I am looking at a domain that is set to expire soon. With Godaddy you can 'Back Order' a domain, but I have never used this feature to acquire a domain. I am serious about getting this domain, so the question is, what is the best company/site to goto for back ordering a domain?
If anyone has any other tips or suggestion for back ordering domains, I would love to hear them.
I guess this post will answer all your queries.
Expiring Domain Names | Domain Marvelous
The GoDaddy backorder service has pretty much become obsolete. If the domain is expiring at GoDaddy then you should be able to buy the domain in the TDNAM auctions.
Thanks. I will try back ordering the domain using Snapnames.com, Enom.com, and Pool.com!
BTW why dont you try contacting the domain owner and see it it can be sold to you. If he wants to get rid of that you can save a lot of your time
I hope he forgets to renew, and I can a good domain for cheap! :)

Sorry for the n00b question; what is a TDNAM auction?

I want to consider how to implement some software to do it rapidly.
For example (to identify the domain name is available):
go to xyz.com
Search on the availability of the domain name
Grab the results page content
Look for the pattern: domain.com available in the web page text
Then to register it, use PC-based software to automate a domain purchasing procedure via a web browser.
With php it's easy to scan a web page and trigger the script at regular intervals from a server. Then, the script can store the data it retrieves.
And on your PC you can run software to regularly check if the script identified if the domain was available. Then, software automates your web browser to buy the domain name. If there are captchas involved it would be a problem though.
So in this way it may be possible to grab a domain name faster than these back-ordering services that may not be able to purchase the domain fast enough.
As the moment came near to the availability to buy, you could even do the monitoring and buying from the PC over broadband and maybe check every few seconds?
I don't know much about domaining so I'm asking for feedback from you veterans out there that are familiar with the procedures.
If you could provide a simple step by step procedure that could be robotically followed, it would be cool.
You could pre-load an account at a registrar with credits so your credit card doesn't need to be processed for speed of purchasing.
Maybe RSS feeds are available listing the available domain names?
Do they have email alerts that you can register for?
