Thread: Best Domain Registrar

I used to use GoDaddy but I hate their interface and the fact that you have to get upsold a bunch of garbage before you can actually check out.

I moved to NameCheap and have been very happy. I'm interested to see if name.com is any better, but at this point it probably doesn't matter. I just want all my domains in one spot.

Name.com is my favourite. I love the simple interface, and their prices are competitive, too. Personally I hate godaddy so only have domains there if I'm buying to resell. The reasons I don't like godaddy:
-The site takes ages to load for me
-The interface is nasty
-You always get sold a load of crap
-I hate the way they do big advert campaigns. I know it's a business, but it just really annoys me for some reason. lol

I like namecheap

At the time I registered my domain, ix-one.com offered the cheapest alternative, especially for a long-term period.

If I'm honest I've never heard of them lol Suppose you came to sell your domains, how successful do you think it'd be? Because not many people use that registrar to my knowledge?

They're pretty small but they have great support! They called me within an hour to confirm that everything was going well.


I bought one domain from them (freefest.net). I egistered other domains with namecheap, netfirms and Windows and they're the only ones who took time to ring me.

They do the job and that is all that I ask. .

To be honest I'm not sure if I'd want my registrar ringing me every time I purchase a domain. I'd rather just get an email, a phone call seems a bit over the top.

How much do they charge for a domain?

They charge $6.99 I believe, and I really don't mind the fact that they called me, it's reassuring...

I don't think registrars can do much less than $6.99. I signed up as a reseller once and the margins are super thin. And for a new domain on namecheap with their monthly discount coupon, I only pay $8.81, so you save $1.82. OK, money is money, but that's half an article. I'm happy with Namecheap and it will be a pain in my rear to move to another, so I'll pay a couple bucks more and work a smidge harder to make up for it!

Some were. Yahoo, for an example, had a promotion some time ago: you could register a domain for free and the following years were 6.99. But those days are over unfortunately.
