I wouldn't necessarily choose Godaddy at this point, there are other registrars out there. I have a bunch of domains still over at Dotster, and I have never had an issue.
In any case, you need to know that you can transfer your domain(s) to another registrar. You'll have to pay for another year, though.

yeah register.com and netsol were among the first and the biggest registrar back in the time when there was not much competition and registration and renewal prices were $50-100. They still like to act like it, but times have changed so get your domains out![]()
Register.com will try to force you to stay with them when you try to transfer...
You have to CALL them and beg for your auth code - they are total wankers!
Namecheap is my preferred registrar, I have a ton of domains still with Mydomain.com but they are more expensive than namecheap.com
