True, but that sale got so much attention, and I mean.. it was a real castle that was being sold.. so wouldn't you give 30$ for a house that is worth at least $750,000? :D
And all tickets had to be sold before somebody could win the house (if I remember well). But too bad I can't find a link to the story :(

One could try to sell a website like this. I don't think it is too hard to code lottery-kid-of system. So the lottery would be digital. Set a ticket price to $1 and hope the best. :D
The house auctions have been held all over the world last one I saw was for a flat in England and one in Australia. They have disclaimers in place that enough tickets arent sold then the contest will be canceled or delayed. Also keep in mind though it looks as though there was profit a huge amount of money is spent to promote those house lotto's
