Thread: How many domain names do you own?

  1. #81
It looks like I have 8 domain names (I just checked my extensive database).

5 of them are developed, and they are bringing in several pennies every month!!!

Currently I have 417 domains in my different accounts (Namecheap, Godaddy & Dynadot) and it's enough for the moment A lot of them are .info's though, but I'm planning on building a site on most of them and to get the most cash I can get from it

I have 6. Some are just sitting there, but I believe 4 are in use...

I want to buy more. but I don't want to get overwhelmed.

True, if I can give you a hint: Create the website before you buy the domain I've bought hundreds of domains so far which I thought about doing a lot with, but I just didn't make a single page for them

Brilliant. Honestly. I don't know why I never thought of that.

The domains tend to sit there for a lot time if you don't move fast with site building.

I would say buy the mane and start work the same time. You never know that someone else buys the domain.

True, but if there is a chance that someone will register it before you will, it means that the domain is that good that you should buy it (even if you won't put a site on it).

But for a normal website, a normal/good domain shouldn't be bought directly as you might change your mind for creating your website when you're working on it But ofcourse what you said is true, if you're sure the project is totally yours you should buy the domain directly

Domain names cost "a few dollars", so you've probably bought more than a thousand dollars worth of domain names. My question is then: is it worth it? Have you made your money back? Does one big site earn enough to make up for the rest, or what?

    OK, so that's several questions.

    With only 1 answer. YES.

These days you can get 1 name for let's say $7.5 , which means $750 per year for 100 names.
If you do little to no keyword research, chances are that you won't be doing any money from any of those sites, but if you decide to "waste" 5 minutes per each of those sites you can easily get $1 per month per site, which means that in the end it'll pay.
Now, if you know how to play this game (even if it's just a little) you'll get a lot more than $1 per month, you'll easily get $10 per month per site, which means you'll have $750 in one hand and $12000 in the other.

Another consideration is that you may need to buy some domain so that the competition doesn't get it like (1) plural "S" version, the dash version and possibly some of the major tlds like .org, .net and .info.
