    Political Domain Names

A recent article from the NYT discusses how politicians are not aware of their online identities and many of the domains redirect to their opponents.

Someone was able to sell Forbes2000.com to Steve Forbes, the presidential candidate, for more than $10,000

It makes me think that there could be some good domains available for the 2012 election cycle.

And they can't take them away because their name isn't trademarked right?

50/50 that you could lose the name in arbitration.

In 2005, Hillary Rodham Clinton won Hillaryclinton.com in arbitration.

Former President Bill Clinton lost an arbitration case to claim WilliamClinton.com, WilliamJClinton.com and PresidentBillClinton.com. The arbitrator said there was insufficient evidence of bad faith.

The real difference seems to be that the conservatives buy something that someone else owns the rights to, while the liberals use the legal system to try to take it away.

Moral of the story: register names of conservatives unless you want to enrich your attorney.

    Hi,

But trying to guess who is going to run before they announce is a little hard.

    What about PatPalusen2012.com
