Thread: Understanding keyword rich domains, their niche and valuating them properly...

The designer leather handbags domain describes an entire category... "designer & leather handbags" while yours are really only good for a single product

ie; white, purple, large, silver.... these are pretty much worthless

and i paid less than $500 for all 5 domains total that i listed above, some were $25 some $80 some more...

But the domain DesignerLeatherHandbags.com is no more valuable than LindasHandbags.com. Neither get an exact match bonus for keywords with reasonable volume. Both are just random "regfee" domains.

At least with those other domains, you get a free (and significant) bonus from Google.

Most domains that do rank on first page of google only have 1 relevant [exact match] keyword found within their domain... Go perform some searches and see for yourself. Very very people have the luxury of owning the exact match dot com since they are so pricey.

In our case, we have an edge for various combination's... Designer Handbags, Designer Handbag, Leather Handbag, Leather Handbags, etc.

Anyways, we can agree to disagree on this one... Good luck developing and ranking those sites. Only time will tell which ones are worthy and which aren't.

Well you said you paid $500 for 5 domains,maybe I am just plain ignorant but I wouldn't pay for any domain so much unless it is something really special.
As Will said,you get no real value from that domain,it's just a domain,sure if it's a domain that's easy to remember and you want to build a site on it something like sex.com for porn or something like that,sure its worth a lot of money,but if you are just making a niche site like most of the other people doing internet marketing,it would serve you better to just do keyword research,find a keyword that has a decent number of searches every month,get the exact match domain,rank,add content and make money that way,but that's just the opinion of one person.
