    Using something other than GoDaddy...

Is there any real reason to use a domain registrar other than GoDaddy?

Is there someone out there with a better service? Lower prices? I see advertisements for many registrars but I have yet to see anything that would make me want to use their services over those of my long-time friend GoDaddy.

    Thoughts?

GoDaddy's interface is something that gives me creeps. I hate it. I despise it. It's awful. I prefer Dynadot.

Well, try it yourself: Fabulous, eNom, Moniker, Netsol, Domainsite, Mydomain etc. The first three are known to have better security features than Godaddy and better interface too. I still keep most of my domains at Godaddy due to good contacts if anything happens (hacking, scam..), and the discount codes.

I agree completely! And they also offer free who.is protection.

You never know, something might go wrong one day, would you rather to ask people that provide crappy support or awesome support?

    • free private Who.is
    • Low registration price
    • DNS lock
    • Free google apps

    And above all,Excellent customer care..
If you have any problem with your transaction or even if you have lost your domain, contact them and they'll give you an excellent and timely support to solve it.

I would give them 10/10 for the last point alone...

I use NameCheap. It's just faster. It takes less than 30 seconds to register a domain, none of this "Would you like hosting with that? Err, how about a sundae?"

I have one issue with Godaddy. Should you forget to renew a domain after like 15 days, Godday puts it up for sale. Most other registers give you a 35 day grace period.

Only if you need other domain extensions, .pl, .lv, .lt for example or if you want cheaper .eu at Dynadot, or cheap .net domains at Moniker.
