Thread: XXX Domains Delayed Again

ICANN has delayed the addition of the .xxx TLD again.

This TLD addition was first proposed in 2000 -- ten years ago. ICANN has rejected it three times (while wearing ruby slippers, I'm sure), but they are now considering it one more time.

This reconsideration is a result of the recommendations of an outside panel. ICANN has shelved the decision until June.

The ICANN board announced this while vacationing errr... "meeting" in Nairobi.

The whole process has been farcical. It is almost as if they believe that if they pretend there is no porn on the Internet, there really is no porn on the Internet.

In reality, XXX domains make it easy for companies and PC governments to block porn sites.

That's why it is not going to happen. Porn is probably paying big bucks to make sure that it is not easy to block them.

A political conspiracy theory appears to be the most rational explanation.

Another delay in something caused by backwards, puritanical beliefs. Not a surprise.

A law in one country creates more opportunities for others.

If it would be the .sex extension, I'm sure it wouldn't be such a big surprise that it's rejected a few times but gosh.. like mentioned above, it's xxx -- used for porn, but can be used for other stuff too.

They're delaying quite many things these days (same with the .eco.. at least from what I remember )

If they made that tld I would definitely get decade.xxx in meaning of XXX decade which is supposedly 202x year and would keep it till that year. I believe it would be very profitable by then.
