I want to be this good when I grow up

When I grow up, I want to be as good a shot as Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible III.

Take a 9MM and shoot guys without looking, to shoot and blow up cars while on a motocycle, and shoot guys who are shooting at me with submachine guns.

I am a fair shot, but I have yet to take a 9MM pistol and empty a clip as fast as I can pull the trigger and get all those shots in a decent grouping.
.22 sure, that is easy as non-existent recoil.

Hey, If Arnold can do it in Commando, Tom can do it in Mission Impossible. There is a scene in Commando where Arnold is surrounded by bad guys at close range all firing full auto, yet Arnold managed to take them all out.

I would not recommend trying this is real life situation. You could get grazed.

If you want to see one of the best action movies ever, check out Expendables 2. It starts rockin' and rollin' right from the beginning and never stops. The first Expendables was good, but the second blows it away.

I think the NYC Police Department should all sit down and watch all these movies.
Then go out to the shooting range and learn how to freaking shoot a simple pistol.

Oh, never take a granddaughter out and teach her to shoot a pistol or a long gun.
Now that is all she wants to do!
She even wants her own weaponry for her birthday and christmas.

Yeah, but they would have to become Hollywood stars in order to shoot as good as in the movies.

I have always found that most women hate guns--right up until the first time you take them out to shoot. From that point on they are addicted. My wife is a natural and can really murder a box of clay pigeons.

There are some great tutorials on how to use various guns such as Fully Automatic Shot Guns from "fps russia" on YouTube. It's a useful channel too if you are on the fence about what kind of machine gun to buy for self defense in these hard economic times to protect your water supply etc.

Any local gun range or gun club will have all the training one needs for any weapon.

I have seen a lot of new guns that I would love to have.

Forget a 50 caliber when now there is a 90 caliber.

Forget a single barrel 45 pistol when now there is a dual barrel 45 pistol.

    Plus quite a few others.

Still a fan of .45. I group better with my beretta 92fs, though the terminal ballistics on 9mm suck in comparison.

Anything hotter than .45 acp or long colt is overkill for most of the stuff i'd need to shoot. Hate getting my wrists beat up by he bigger stuff. Tried a .44mag for about 2 shots and handed it back to the owner. Painful enough that it makes you gunshy on the trigger pull. A .357 looks like a flamethrower... Wasted powder, blasting the ears without much gain.

But that thing where you unload it in a few seconds into a tight group is outside my paygrade. There are guys that can do it, but i leave that sorta thing to the Miculeks of the world.

That just takes practice -- and lots of it. If you pump out about 1,000 rounds per day, you can learn to do it. Or you could become a movie star. They make it look easy.

The .45 will always be a better bad guy stopper. I read that a lot the GIs in Afghanistan bring their own .45s because they do not like the Beretta 9mm. They would rather stop a bad guy with one shot rather than requiring 3 or 4.

Pistol of choice for anyone that can handle it is still a 45.

9mm is okay, but still not the stopping power of a 45.
But still fun to shoot off.

Anyone that has a pistol, got to remember it is not something to put away and only take out for show.
Take that sucker to a gun range and fire off a few mags to get up with it and the feel of it.

Yesterday, I met a doctor who has not fired a gun, owned a gun, or even knew what a 45 was!
Can you imagine a 50 year man in this way?
He did say he fired a 410 45 years ago!
Told him, if ever you have a problem, you have one option and that is to run like mad.

I don't think what Tom Cruise did in any of MM is even possible to fathom for even some of the trained professionals to do. The stunts are borderline impossible to outright nuts in those movies. Sorry to ruin the fun
