I saw this movie a with my 17 year old daughter. Overall, it was good, because we're really into vampires right now. True Blood started this kick. The middle was a bit slow, and the long intense staring scenes left us giggling...there was a lot of time spent staring...

  2. The lip quivering while staring was interesting. I can't figure out how she managed to force that. How do you make your lip quiver on purpose???

If I had that one down, I'd be in a different business...? My manipulation skills would sky-rocket me to success...

This movie was actually better than what I expected. I read the book, and overall, I liked the book more. However, I wouldn't say the movie was bad, either.

The book is definitely better. I'm glad I saw the movie before I read the book. The characters in the book bear little resemblance to the ones in the movie. That would have killed the movie for me.

This way, I was able to enjoy both on their own merits.

O_O Will? Is that you that posted this?

After reading Will's post I thought we would rent the movie and figured it might be an OK movie. I don't mind watching B movies, etc... but Will, you owe me 2 hours and my wife 2 hours!!!!

It was terrible. Terrible acting, terrible characters, terrible detail, one of the few movies I have watched in the last 5 years that I actually wished I hadn't.

    Thanks a lot Will.

(I watched the movie over a month ago and kept forgetting to "thank" you.)

My wife read the books, but I did not.

Both of us thought Twilight was terrible. I thought the acting was some of the worst that I have seen in several years, and we rent and watch movies almost every weekend. It was far too amateurish to even be interesting.

We will not be renting the next Twilight movie. We do like vampire movies, but Twilight was too hammy for us. The True Blood TV series is far better.

I agree. The Twilight books were terrible too though. They were really teeny bopper and all of the vampire characters were insanely narcissistic despite their "advanced" years. I must concede that the first book was actually better than the first movie.

I read the Sookie Stackhouse series a few weeks ago. The books were somewhat OK. I much prefer the True Blood story lines. But again, it's nice to know a bit of background. The True Blood story and the Sookie Stackhouse story diverged pretty early in the books so the TV series is full of surprises!

The books were just interesting enough that I'll probably end up buying the 10th book in May.

Either way, reading those types of books are a nice break from my usual SciFi/Fantasy/Political fluff.

I will also concur that Twilight was quite horrible but I have heard from many people that the books are good. It was fully a waste of $15 to go see that movie.
