Well I can't tell you much, I never visited it. Are you planning to travel there?
Tell me your opinion about this country, please.
I'm in Indonesia right now and Indonesia To Go, Presenting Indonesia To The World is our website about it. Have mixed feelings. Don't like the fact that you cannot get anything done here unless you have good connection and don't like the oppressive nature in which the government keeps the population on a minimum financially. Opportunity is here but unlike India which came up, people here tend not to communicate well with the world outside so to speak and there is also that religious impact causing a lot of issues which should not be issues.
I also get treated well by most people, but of course you never know if it's just because you're from the west and they want some money out of you. Strange place if you don't have people surrounding you from "your world" familiar with this world.
Bali on the other hand is great. Bali is predominantly Hindu religion wise and it's a big party place like any other in this world.
Jakarta is ugly, overpopulated and dirty, but I know that there are some more hidden spots where you can have a great life with little means.
All depends on what you're into I guess.
I was there once, my Aussie friend took me. Yeah, if you're a single guy, Jakarta is a great place. I also need to mention I am staying in a very nice secure apartment complex run by a Scottish guy, so the last month and a half have been good.
Well Indonesians and Filipinos have the same skin color so it's like we're all brothers. However how religious fanatics take their beliefs to another level is unbearable. I remember seeing a video of a Muslim hacking a Christian and cutting off his head. phew.
Also when I'm in a group of too many Bules (Westerners), I feel uncomfortable.
I know only about a conflict in East Timor, not very nice.
