Guru images in post bit

Could somebody please tell me if the "Guru" images thta appear under a members name are a VB addon/plugin and if so what it is called?

Also can it be set for just certain forums (if it's an addon) and is there a function to allow manual addition or is it set by post count in a forum/section or via other means?

I suppose that's done as part of the GURU programe that's running in this forum.

These images are displayed as part of the NB Guru Program and have nothing to do with a member's post count in any forum or section. Now, I don't know specifically how NetBuilders implants the guru badges into postbit, but I will tell you how I do so on my forum. I took screenshots to help explain:

1. Access the vBulletin Admin Panel.
2. Create a new usergroup that you want to be able to display the badge.
3. Go to the User Ranks page. (See image 1)
4. Create a new rank and apply it to the desired usergroup. (See image 2)
5. Add any users to the appropriate usergroup to allow them to display the badge.
(Users > Search for User > Type in their name > Edit user -- You'll see Usergroup Options on the right.)





Note: You'll have to edit the settings in image 2 as appropriate. I recommend you stack the rank, and minimum posts are irrelevant since you're creating a special usergroup. If you're applying it to all usergroups, or to the general members, then a post count may be necessary depending on your preferences.

Hope this brief tutorial helps. The user ranks feature in vBulletin really allows a lot of options... you can give it to all users, specific users by adding them to usergroups, to all members after a number of posts, etc. Feel free to play around with it and see what's appropriate for your community.

Thanks for the reply Kovich, that's helpful, enlightening and interesting. I am replying now with masses of possibilities in my mind for a possible VB addon/plugin with lots of scope.

An addon integratable with many other addons including ones already VB4 ready.

For example intergration to an iTrader and UCash/VBCredits (and the likes) system, as well as other related addons to start with.

This would be nice to see as a VB addon that gives the ability to not only integrate with certain other addons but that would incorporate a voting system intertwined with an admin control that could partially over ride user controls.

I need to get back to this though as my head is swimming with ideas on how this could be developed and made compatible with other addons for Vb (and likely others) and it's late here and I need to sleep as am very tired so if anything I said doesn't make sense I will clarify my thoughts and thinking later.
