I hacked Digital Point forum last night and got banned

Each time the SQL Server shutdown, users lose accounts.
In October 2008, my account were killed by a SQL Issue.

Probably not the right area but on subject. If a webmaster owns a site of that size dont they do daily backups? Are these backups stored on a different server? I never understood how they lost all those accounts and posts. I am speculating its due to a lack of involvement by the owner. From one of the posts stating what the type of server they are using and the price of it I cant see how a killer backup system wouldn't be in place. Is it that without Shawn being around the person running the show cant access those things?

Why if this was such a money maker would it be in state that it is now? I know I would be hands on all the time to make sure my bread winner running as smooth as possible. Then I guess after so many years of doing the same thing might get burned out on it. If that's the case why not turn over the reigns to someone who is motivated to run it.

Has Net Builders shown any major fluctuation in traffic in the past 12 hours?

Mr. Bill, keep in mind there is only one person that is technically savvy enough to manage the inner workings of the site, and that actually has access to the servers at the admin/root level. And its not mr crazy.

I'd be surprised of any of the mods had any type of technical background beyond what can be done the GUI in VB.

VB is not the problem. Look at the version in use. Its at least 1 to 2 major revisions behind at all times. Keeping forum software up to date and patched is the problem. This is not the fault of the vendor.

It's not a matter of thinking about it. The problem is, DP is so heavily modded that things break when upgrading. Hell, I have sites that I just patch here and there because I've found I end up breaking more than I fix when updating.

There could be a lot of custom stuff that doesn't effect the user interface.
