I think incentives to new member can be helpful.
I don't know about today, but I was recently away from NB for few days. I came back yesterday, and I saw a lot of new active users. And the marketplace has got some activity too. NB is getting more popular. :D
I think we're on a good path, but we've got a long way to go.
The majority of our posts are from a minority of our members. That's a fairly natural result of the Pareto Principle and I'm not sure there's much we can do about that.
The answer then, it seems, is to recruit more members.
Figuring out how to do that is a major priority.
Spam on DP...:D We will get a lot of members.. Invite Matt Cutts. He joined DP on few members invitation..;)
We really need to find a way to get a lot of members to the forum :( The SEO contest helped, but I guess it didn't help enough yet :(
I have not been on the forums today (only been on for last hour), but I was glad when I had about 10 new posts in "user CP" and about the same amount in "unread posts". It was definitely more than yesterday.
NB is an awesome community and I think it just needs time. There is not much we can do but try to preserve this awesomeness. As for the SEO contest not being as effective, I think if we do it again after this one and market it aggressively it will draw in more members (go to bloggers and get them to write about it, forum sig links, banners over at DP etc).
I think some one has mentioned here that one of member there is hving link of NB in his/her signature that can be very useful.
If the SEO contest not provided the desired result we can think of some thing else.
One thing is sure this community is very close and having more freedom unlike others.
thank you Will and his team.
