I think forum signature link is better than blog commenting. But to get maximum result, you can try both of link, signature and commenting.
Both are good if you build only dofollow links in related forums or blogs.
Both blog commenting and forum signature links are low quality links from Google's perspective because they are not natural links.
We have tested this extensively. The links only have merit if the blog or forum is focused on the same industry theme as your site. We saw no ranking ability whatsoever when linking to unrelated sites.
They do help a new site to get indexed faster and in some cases the links can drive some human traffic, but we did not see very much human traffic in our tests. The boost in traffic was primarily spiders and bots that followed the links.
No matter where you get it from Blog or forum. What matters is the quality of the link. I think Blog links are a bit easier to access, I mean easier to find. Because there you talk about your brand only and no other promoters to grab attention of viewers.
I think if you compare both of them, of course, forum posting is the best one method that you can try to increase your link.
I think forums tends to be more trusted when compared to blogs. You trust a community, not a single user.
That is probably correct, but some forum communities exist almost solely to provide links for its members. It is the only way that they can draw people in and they tend to be full of some of the crappiest signature links on the planet.
There is more likely to be a trust factor if you run a site about dogs and you join forums about dogs and you link to your dog articles. That would be a natural link. Links to ringtone sites or SEO sites from a dog forum would not.
Any link that looks artificial can be a problem with the new Google algorithms. It was the link building industry and their penchant for crappy links that drove the need for Penguin.
I do believe that in today's google environment that to have a link in a blog post is the best.
Not in the sidebar, or as a comment, but actually in the blog post.
Forums, I am leaning more towards the links IN a thread and not the links in a signature file are more worth in google's world.
Just look at searches and see more and more posts with a link showing up.
