Importance of forum signature?

Hello everyone,

I used forum to contribute my knowledge and learn new information from it. Most of forums provide Signature links below your post and in your profile page.

Are those signature links are helpful for SEO purpose?

If that signature link is no-follow then still it valuable or not?

To synopsize, the general consensus is that profile links have been largely devalued in SEs and no-follow links have pretty much none, so the value is largely limited to direct traffic, which will only be worthwhile if your posts are.

So if someone's joining a forum just for the sig link they're generally better off doing something else, cause posting for link value alone wastes their time as well as the time of people that have to wade thru the link-value spam.

I wish that message were better kown, cause forums are full of dorks that think posting quick fluff is a feat of seo skill, when in reality it pegs them as idiots.
