coming back to the point - make yourself one of the best(if not the only best) freelancer or professional in your specialization.. say i can custom code things and mix designs better than anybody i know of in my city... so if the client finds anyone cheaper than me then they risk 99% times of getting scammed or low-quality & half-baked work and return to me only. so i can charge any money i feel like. and i dont do low priced projects on dP anyday.. i only accept something starting $500 for basic site and $3000 or more for custom made ones and i dont take more than 2 projects a month... so i have all the time in life to do anything i want.

Well you are quite right at the point. I have faced the similar situation. Clients usually consider only the lower bidder and they forget about the quality work. As per my experience lower price is not the solution for this kind of work. There is a min barrier to that a person usually relax in terms of money. If you lower too down then i am afraid the work will be pirated or poor quality.

Secondly, we do need a proper time duration to complete the work.

I priced myself accordingly to how much I could make my clients with my "1 hour of time"
I found a range I was comfortable with and went with it, I actually raised my billing rate after 2 months at my old rate because I was so busy.
I've had that 2nd rate for several years now and still get job offers.
I think I got lucky TBH..lol
I looked at the industry standard for similar work and I'm right in line with those figures.
