How do people feel about naming and shaming? Unecessary or should there be a "black list" of bad payers? Is a can of worms we don't want to open?

Did you sign a contract or anything? Because you should have a document saying he can't use the articles live until he pays, otherwise HE's stealing YOUR content.
If you contacted him and asked again for payment, and you got no response, then the articles are yours. Sell them to someone else or use them on your own blog. You own them, not him.
I have mixed feelings about that. I try not to look unprofessional, and the "shaming" part definitely brings that out. Then again if the guy is a scammer he deserves it.

Wow that sucks. I always take payment first and people seem okay with that. If he doesn't post the articles then you might be able to sell them again. Good luck!

I feel you... but learn from your mistake. At least have a deposit before starting any work. It serves as a leverage for both since it would show that he has resources and you, on your part would have to finish the work by agreement. Sucks but life goes on...
