If you could create a game...

    ...what game would you create?

I think id create a free roam game like GTA, but with zombies everywhere, and make a huuge map, like 10 times bigger than GTA San Andreas.
A bit like Prototype, but instead of you being a freak person with crazy powers, your just a normal civilian trying to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Everything would be interactive, for example you could go into any building in the map.

I think that would be a seriously awesome game, doubt we have the engine to handle it yet though.

It would be a mix of Doom and Left 4 Dead. Let the people at ID Software do the graphic design and let the people at Valve do the actual game development. And let John Romero design the multiplayer part of it.

Actually we have the engines but we don't have the pc's strong enough to support this type of games

We have the engines and we have the computers.

We just don't have the developers. Let's take, for example, World of Warcraft. That game could be exponentially better and have a massive amount of additional gameplay options. They could make more buildings, they could make cities more interactive, they could make interesting quests that only a certain number of people can do, then it's closed forever. They could make more events. They can make guilds actually have a purpose. They can expand the universe without just copying and pasting the same thing with the same stores and NPCs somewhere else.

Why don't they? Because from a business perspective - they don't need to. They can stop developing right now. They could never fix another bug, let the server become a bit laggy, and never release another expansion pack, and I guarantee you that players will stay. In fact, enough to keep Blizzard with a steady profit. They don't want to invest the time into something that isn't necessary to the survival of the game.

Then you have the independent development companies that try and break the mold and make something new - but they don't have the people or the budget to do it. Believe me, I've tried it. So then those ideas crash and burn into the ground.

This reminds me of the old days of the Commodore 64 which was popular for a few years. While the specs of the machine stayed the same, its games got better and better over the years. The game developers had to, in order to stay competitieve. Nowadays computers are having more memory, getting faster and while some games push it to the performance envelope, I am tempted to think that if PC specs would stay fixed, the games would be better eventually as well just like in the old days of the C64.

Anyway, to answer Cheesy's question. I also like free roaming games like GTA where you can go into buildings, drive a car and other road and airborne verhicles. Basically a simulation of urban life where you can do crazy stuff like landing a jumpjet in a mall for example.

They should just make a bad ass Martrix game, that's what you're kind of hinting at.
