    Benefits Of Fasting

I decided to try water fasting for the first time where I avoid eating food for 36 hours and only drink water during this time. My main aim is fat loss, but there appears to be other health benefits too, mainly related to age-related diseases. I would be interested to hear the views of people that have tried Fasting, and what experience you had.

Tried a similar plan once. Causes ketosis. Rather unpleasant, but involves weight loss. 36 hours shouldnt be dangerous long as the body has water.

I completed the 36 hour fast without a hitch. Weight down from 91.2kg to 89.9kg Now thinking to repeat it from Monday night to gap my weight comfortably away from 90 kgs. Sorry to my US friends who weigh in Lbs (90 kgs is around 200 Lbs)

I drank lots of water, the idea is to detox and avoid food (calorie intake).

Sounds like progress. Oddly one of the biggest wieght losses I ever made was just a result of laying off beer for a year. Not like I drank that much... so my guess is the chips and hot sauce I invariably consumed while drinking beer had more to do with it.

Let us know how the next round goes.

We have our own culture where we fast for a day. I think it is good for health.

Fasting has been called the "miracle cure" because the list of physical conditions improved by fasting is long and varied. Due to the lack of incoming energy, the body must turn to its own resources, a function called autolysis. The less one eats, the more the body turns to these stored fats and creates these ketone bodies.

Well, if you have ever had a colonoscopy, you did this.
Plus emptied out your colon of every single drop of whatever is in there!

This I know because I have had two colonoscopies this year!
One 6 months ago and one the end of last month.

And if you want to be safe about it all?
Take fiber two-three times a day.
After each meal, I have a glass of good old metamucil (the sugar free variety).
And it is advised to have a glass of water after taking the glass.

The above does help in cutting down on food and also moves the food you do eat a bit faster out of the body.
